Typos

Typos

I tried to become a teacher,
so I ended up writing lots of papers
in college with “student” in them.

Such as, “An educator’s primary goal
is the learning of the student.”

But a few times I typed “studnet,” instead of “student.”
Accidentally? Perhaps. But so frequently
did it occur that I felt that someone,
Somewhere, in invisible-land or unlikely-land,
was trying to get me to see smoething, to know
something beyond myself.

Studnet. What is it?
A metaphorical net for catching attractive men?
“Lacy considered her eye shadow a studnet.”
That makes sense.
A construction term?
“You better get those nails all the way through that studnet.”
That makes sense, too.

No, it was none of these.

Studnet was nothing, and worse
than nothing- it was indeed a negative something-
it took away from the things that were actually things.

YOu're a stud brother, I wish I had a studnet, then I could catch you.

I wish I could make something out of studnet.
