Novel progress

Dear Readers,

Good news: my novel is near completion.

Bad news. I went to the library and looked at some books about getting published and now I'm discouraged. First of all, getting a novel published is rare. Lots of people submit stuff, but not a lot of people get published. Second of all, if you do get a book published, usually it takes about one and half to two years from the time you get an agent to the time you see your book on bookshelves in bookstores. I want my book published now, and I want royalty checks now, of course. So... on one of my previous posts, I said that if my novel did not get published in a year, then I would just put it on Telemoonfa Time. Maybe I should try to get if published for three years. I don't know.

Car trouble. I went to a mechanic this morning to get my car aligned, because the car has been veering to the right, and they said, "Hey, we found other stuff wrong with your car. It's going to cost $1,000." So that's quiff. I think I'll take it to another place to get a second opinion.

School starts for me in two days. I'm starting a master's program in General English Studies. I'm sort of looking forward to it, but I'm also sort of not looking forward to it.

In my whole life, I've only met one professional writer, meaning a person who makes a living as a writer. He was in a community theatre production of Our Town with me. And I think he's married to a woman who has a good career, so I wonder if he could really support a family as a writer. He writes movie reviews for magazines and for online magazines and stuff. Oh yeah, I did meet another professional freelance writer one time. She wrote for medical journals. She said all she did was interview surgeons and doctors and nurses and X-ray people and made articles out of the interviews.

I'm not as bookish as I make myself out to be. I do like reading and writing, some, but not as much as others. Hmmm...

But I will not lose faith in my writing ability. I think I'm OK. Maybe even OK enough to get published somewhere besides the student newspaper and Telemoonfa Time.

Take Care.

Sincerely,
Telemoonfa
